Empowering the Empowerers: Supporting Leaders Who Uplift Others

💡 Leadership is often about empowering others, but what happens when the empowerers feel unsupported themselves?

Leaders are expected to inspire, uplift, and drive their teams forward. But behind the scenes, they can face their own challenges:

🔥 Working under ego-driven managers (not true leaders)

🔥 Balancing competing priorities

🔥 Navigating decision fatigue

🔥 Lacking the support or mentorship they need to thrive

Here’s how we can support the leaders who uplift everyone else:

💚 Normalize asking for help.

Being vulnerable doesn’t undermine your leadership: it strengthens it. Show your team that no one succeeds alone.

💚 Create a peer support network.

Find other leaders who understand your challenges and can share insights or lend an ear.

💚 Set boundaries to recharge.

Empowering others starts with your own energy reserves. Don’t be afraid to say “no” to protect your bandwidth. Don’t be afraid to stop, pause, reflect, and rethink your getting-things-done and meeting-with-others strategies before moving forward again.

💚 Step into your own personality.

You don’t need to lead like your leaders: lead authentically, with your values driving your decisions. Your unique talents, values, and personality are your strengths.

💚 Advocate for your own growth.

Seek mentors or resources to support your development: just as you would encourage your team to do.

Even dragons need rest to recharge their fire. Don’t pour all your energy into others without refueling yourself. A well-supported leader has the strength to keep empowering their team.

💬 What’s your go-to strategy for recharging as a leader? Let’s share ideas to lift each other up.
